Celebrating Over 40 years of Family Camping!

Welcome to this hidden gem! This park offers 130 acres of wooded and open, peaceful land. With only 200 sites and surrounded by woods, we have plenty of room for everyone.

We have 4 small lakes and ponds. 3 are for fishing, stocked with Bass, bluegill, catfish, and some crappie. On Bass Lake, we offer FREE boat rentals including:Paddle boards, Paddle boats, canoes, row boats, and corcl boats. The Swimming beach has a 60ft land inflatable water slide with other water inflatables in the shallow and deep end. Public swim is welcome Monday through Friday.

Central to the campground are 4 outbuildings. These include the Office (Check in) and Gift Shop, Activity Center with some family games, a Pavilion, and The Red Barn, which holds the weekly church service. Next to the gift shop, you can enjoy a giant chess set or giant connect four game.

The forest and 1.5 miles of trails are abounding with wildlife and wild fruit. Center is the 13 acre field that is perfect for a ball game or running your pets. Also located in the field is a small basketball court, gaga ball pit, sand volley pit, playground, archery range (scheduled only), and 60ft x80ft RC Track.

We offer Seasonal, monthly, weekly, or daily sites on our rustic, electric (20/30/50amp), or sewer. There are 5 rental campers to choose from and don’t forget about our golf cart rentals. We also offer onsite trailer storage and for an extra charge. Mendota Hills can move and set up your trailer so you don’t have to!

There are 26 themed weekends throughout the summer months. Every weekend has activities for that theme. These are in addition to normal activities like hay rack rides and long time running Frog Jumping Contest.

Each Sunday, there is a non-denominational church service called the Refuge Church. Full time Pastor John Kalebaugh officiates the service all year round along with a contemporary worship team.

Mendota Hills Campground History

The property of Mendota Hills Campground started back in the 1900’s as a Sand Pit for mining.  It was part of Lyon’s Lakes.  Over the course of many years, it developed into different, entertainment type of business’s.  We have heard many stories of being an equestrian park, snowmobile venue, small amusement park, Bar and Restaurant. etc. 

It wasn’t until 1979 that Jake and Inez Winn purchased it thereafter named it “Mendota Hills Campground”.  They developed some of the campground and started weekly activities, including the Frog Jumping Contest!

The Rogers family (current owners) took over in 2003. They enjoy maintaining the same family, friendly values that they experienced because they were campers themselves in 1985. Mark Rogers first got involved in calling bingo and also starting a bible study. That bible study grew into what is now The Refuge Church. Pastor John Kalebaugh and his wife Glenda now officiate the service each weekend.

Today, the Rogers family (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Generation), along with our great staff and volunteers, welcome you to relax, sit back, and enjoy 130 acres of family fun.  We know what its like to be on both sides of the counter and therefore want to offer the best experience.
